Biwabik, MN (KROC-AM News) - The State Patrol is investigating a fatal head-on collision that occurred Wednesday afternoon on Minnesota's Iron Range.

A preliminary report indicates a Wisconsin woman was traveling east on Highway 135 near Biwabik when a westbound car crossed over the center line and collided with her pickup truck. The 61-year-old Virginia woman driving the pickup was killed in the crash. Her name is not been released.

The Wisconsin woman, 31-year-old Haley Honkanen, was transported to the hospital in Virginia with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. The State Patrol also reported that a third vehicle collided with some of the debris from the head-on collision, but the 29-year-old Aurora man driving the car was not hurt.

The deadly collision was reported shortly before 5 PM about 2 miles west of Biwabik.
