Coon Rapids, MN (KROC-AM News) - One person was killed in a fiery crash involving a stolen vehicle in the Twin Cities early this morning.

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office says police officers from Anoka and Coon Rapids responded around 4:40 AM to a report of a vehicle on fire. When they arrived at the scene and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

A news release says it was determined the vehicle had left the roadway and burst into flames after crashing into a tree. After firefighters from Coon Rapids brought the fire under control, the body of the driver was found inside the vehicle.

The identity of the victim has not been confirmed. The Sheriff's Office says it was later discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen in Coon Rapids. The Midwest Medical Examiners Office is working to identify the remains found in the burned-up vehicle.
