Columbia Heights, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in the Twin Cities are investigating an early fire that claimed the life of a man, dog and pig.

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office says the fire was reported shortly before 1:00 Thursday morning. Multiple agencies responded to the house fire

The fire was reported near the 4600 block of 7th St. Northeast in the City of Columbia Heights. First responders found an unconscious man inside of the home once they gained entry.

The man was extracted from the home and taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. A pet dog and a pig also did not survive the fire, authorities say. 

The man’s identity has not been released. The cause of the fire and extent of the damage is unknown as of Thursday morning.
