Jury Finds School, Ex-Coach Not Liable in Fatal Crash
MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) -- A jury has found a Moorhead school and its former basketball coach not liable in a crash that killed two students four years ago.
The Clay County jury deliberated about a half-hour Friday before finding Park Christian School and ex-coach Josh Lee were not at fault in the deaths of 18-year-old Zach Kvalvog and his 14-year-old brother, Connor.
The teens were driving to a basketball camp in Wisconsin when their pickup crashed on Interstate 94 near Dalton, in western Minnesota, in June 2015.
The brothers' parents, Ray and Kathie Kvalvog of Moorhead, sought $82.9 million from the school and Lee, alleging they were negligent in allowing the teens to drive to the tournament.
The trial lasted four days.
