La Crosse, WI (KROC-AM News) - Police in La Crosse responded to a concerning situation at the city's airport on Saturday.

According to the police department in La Crosse, officers responded to the La Crosse Regional Airport around 3 PM after a person drove through the locked gate at the facility. The intruder then gained access to a private aircraft and boarded the plane.

Officials say the crew of the aircraft were still on board at the time, but they were able to safely exit the plane. A news release says the responding officers then worked with airport personnel to disable the aircraft and position a vehicle in front of the plane to prevent it from leaving the tarmac. The intruder was then taken into custody. The person's name has not been released.

The incident did not disrupt the airport's flight operations and no injuries were reported. La Crosse police indicated the investigation is active and ongoing.
