Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A new trial date has been set for a Rochester charged with murdering an Iraqi immigrant nearly two years ago.

This is the third time Olmsted County Court officials have scheduled a trial for 26-year-old Sao Yim. The proceedings were originally set to begin last May before the trial date was pushed back to the second week of November. Jury selection in the case is now slated to begin the week of July 20th.

Yim is charged with second-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing 40-year-old Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhu Al Naddf following a confrontation outside the victim's northwest Rochester apartment on March 12, 2018. Prosecutors allege Yim believed Al Naddf had bumped into his car, which was parked on the street that runs past the victim's residence.

A second man charged in the case, 25-year-old Eric Lee, previously pleaded guilty to a charge of aiding an offender after the fact charge and was sentenced to 10-years on probation. Lee also agreed to testify for the prosecution at Yim's trial.
