Clothing is Optional In This Minnesota Community
The topic of nude beaches came up at work today because it is National Nude Day. Naturally, we went to Google to see if there are any in Minnesota. I didn't find any nude beaches but I did learn that there is a giant nudist resort/community located 2-hours north of Rochester where you can vacation.
According to Explore Minnesota, Avatan is a family nudist campground and is licensed by the State so everything is on the up and up. The thought of camping in the nude doesn't like much fun to me though- there are parts of my body that I never want a mosquito to bite - so I won't be adding this to my summer bucket list. If you are interested in learning more check out the details below.
What is Avatan?
On their website they explain, Avatan is 40 acres of rolling woodland grounds with a pool, hot tub, spa, pickle ball court. It is Minnesota's largest nudist resort and they are memebers of the American Association of Nude Recreation.
Where Is Avatan?
Avatan Nudist Club is located at 524 Sims Rd NE, East Bethel, Minnesota which is about 30 minutes north of the Twin Cities.
Avatan Travel Tips
- If you're planning a visit you're encouraged to bring a towel. The resort explains that towels "are polite and sanitary" and encourages guests to "carry one and place it on whatever seat you intend to occupy."
- FYI, cameras are not prohibited on the grounds.
- Avatan is very clear in explaining that it is a family-friendly campground which means sexual activity in a public setting is illegal as it is throughout the state of Minnesota.
