How Local Honey Can Help with Colds, Flu, and Allergies
A story from Bringham Young University cites a 2017 article from the National Library of Medicine called 'Honey and Health: A Review of Recent Clinical Research'.
In the paper, researchers write, "Studies revealed that the medicinal effect of honey may be due to of its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, apoptotic, and antioxidant properties."
There are also talks about the fact that local honey in particular is really good because it's made using pollen found in your particular area. That means you're consuming trace amounts of local allergens, as Tom's on Maine writes.
To get the benefits of consuming local honey, you don't need a ton. Honey does have lots of sugar so you don't want to over do it. Just a spoonful each day can be helpful.
