Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - There was a happy ending to a Minnesota woman's frightening ordeal Friday afternoon.

The Minneapolis Police Department says the woman left her vehicle running with her two young children inside it when the vehicle was stolen around 2 PM. A news release says an adult male approached the vehicle, removed a six-year-old child, and then drove away with a four-year-old still in the vehicle.

Minneapolis police launched an immediate search for the stolen vehicle and located it about 25 minutes later. The news release says officers found the vehicle, which was still running, with the four-year-old child inside and unharmed. The young child and vehicle were then reunited with the mother.

“This incident was a frightening ordeal for the mother, who likely regretted leaving her vehicle running the moment it happened,” said Minneapolis Police Chief O’Hara. “I am sure she never intended to endanger the safety of her children. Crimes of opportunity unfold in mere seconds. We urge everyone to stay vigilant, no matter how busy life gets and take every precaution to protect themselves from becoming a victim.”

Minneapolis police say the thief was gone when officers arrived and there have not been any arrests in the case.
