Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – An automatic license plate reader helped an Olmsted County deputy apprehend a wanted teenager - and led to the arrest of the driver of a car clocked at 100 mph.

The deputy was on patrol Tuesday night on 50th Ave SE when the license plate reader pinged as a car drove by. The deputy turned around to follow the car when the driver took off. The chase ended when the driver stopped and fled on foot.

Other officers were called in to search for the driver while the deputy checked his car. He found three people inside and learned one was wanted for a probation violation.

The man driving the car was eventually located and arrested. He was identified as 20-year-old Dashaun Pittman of Red Wing.
