Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester Salvation Army is closing its north Thrift Store and Donation Center.

The charitable organization today announced it is no longer accepting donations of used goods at the center in the 4900 block of the Highway 52 West Frontage Road. The Salvation Army says it plans to continue selling the merchandise it already has at the site until the Thrift Store closes on July 31st.

A news release says the lease for the property expires at the end of this summer, and economic and competitive pressures have negatively impacted the sustainability of the operation. The Salvation Army will continue to provide vouchers for clothing and household items at its South Rochester Store adjacent to the former Kmart Store on 9th Street Southeast.

Anyone in need of assistance is encouraged to contact the Salvation Army at 507-288-3663.
