Rochester to Host First Ever Snow Summit This Weekend
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - As the inevitable winter season approaches, the City of Rochester will be hosting its inaugural Snow Summit this weekend.
A news release describes it as "Rochester's Winter Preparation Celebration!" The event, at the Rochester Public Works and Transit Operations Center is being billed as a free, fun filled family event designed to help residents get ready for winter.
“This event is a great opportunity for residents to gain a deeper understanding of how we handle winter weather,” said Jake Busho, City of Rochester Street Maintenance Supervisor. “We want everyone to be prepared and informed, so they can stay safe and help us keep Rochester moving during the snow season.”
According to the news release, the Snow Summit will feature a variety of exhibits on snow removal practices, snow and ice safety tips, and winter activities. The list of exhibitors includes city departments, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the National Weather Service, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and Minnesota Energy Resources.
What will likely be the favorite attraction for children, and many adults, will be displays of the snow plows and other equipment utilized by the Rochester Public Works Department to keep our roads clear of snow and ice.
The event, which is free, will take place on Saturday from 9 AM until noon. Parking will be available at Foster Arend Park (4051 E. River Road Northeast) with shuttle bus service to the nearby Public Works and Transit Operations Center.
