There are so many deserving animals that are looking for forever homes. In Rochester, Minnesota alone, hundreds or more animals are either surrendered or found by themselves in just one year.

Some of them have worse cases than others and some are more difficult to re-home than others, but all of them are deserving of a home and love. Can you tell I'm a big animal lover?

One of the amazing animal shelters in southeast Minnesota is Paws and Claws, and I actually volunteer there!

Just in 2024, Paws and Claws found forever homes for 737 dogs and 840 cats. That's a total of 1,577 adoptions just last year. That's amazing!

And now they're hoping to kick off 2025 with a bang with a special adoption event this weekend.

Paws and Claws Rochester, MN Cat Adoption Event

If you or someone you know is looking to make an addition to their family, stop by Paws and Claws' Cat Adoption Day. It's coming up on Sunday, January 12th from noon until 4 PM.

Typically when you want to adopt an animal from Paws and Claws you have to fill out a form online first so you can be approved and also so you can express your interest in adopting (whether it's for a specific animal or not). On Sunday, you can apply same-day, in-person and take home your new family member.

This does mean, though, that you need to be prepared when you go to the event. For example, if you live in a rental you need to have pre-approval from your landlord to have a cat in your home or apartment. Also, if there are other animals in the home you need to bring their vet records with you that day.

But wait! There's more!

At Sunday's Cat Adoption Day, there is an adoption special. Adopt one cat and adopt a second one for half the price. All cats and kittens have a $100 adoption fee so that's $150 for two new furry friends.

Here’s a look at some of the most common questions related to kittens and cats, and the answers cat lovers are looking for.
