MOORHEAD, Minn. (AP) — One person has been killed in Moorhead after a train struck a vehicle on the tracks.

A BNSF Railway train hit a car in south Moorhead at about 9 a.m. Saturday. Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says the southbound train dragged the vehicle about a third of a mile before stopping.

Bergquist says both crossing arms at the intersection were down at the time of the incident. One arm was broken during the accident.

BNSF and the sheriff's office will investigate the incident. Bergquist hopes two witnesses can help piece together what happened.
