Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester is among multiple southeast Minnesota communities included in a Winter Storm Warning.

A prolonged period of moderate snowfall is scheduled to begin Friday night and last into Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. 

Hazardous travel conditions are anticipated in areas of southeast Minnesota, northeastern Iowa and southwestern Wisconsin.

Latest Forecast Calls For at Least 6 Inches In Multiple Southeast Minnesota Communities

The Winter Storm warning begins at midnight Saturday and is set to expire at 6:00 Sunday morning. 

Areas along and south of Interstate 90 have a 70-95% chance of seeing six or more inches of snow, the Winter Storm Warning says. 

Snowfall rates as heavy as one inch per hour are expected in northeastern Iowa and southwestern Wisconsin Saturday afternoon. The storm is expected to exit the area by Sunday morning. 

The latest forecast, issued Friday morning, calls for 6-10 inches in Rochester, 6-11 inches in Winona, 7-11 inches in Austin, 7-12 inches in Preston, 5-9 inches in Faribault and 5-10 inches in Wabasha

Officials are anticipating light winds with the storm, limiting blowing snow impacts.
