Update: Rochester Police ID Body Found in Soldiers Field Park

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - For the second time this summer, Rochester Police are investigating the death of a man found in an apparent homeless encampment.

A news release issued this afternoon indicates Rochester Police officers responded around 3 AM today to a report of an unresponsive man. He was found inside a tent among some trees near the entrance to Soldiers Field Park.

The statement says the Rochester Police Department is working with the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the man and determine the cause and manner of his death. It also notes there is no danger to the public.

In early June, the body of 61-year-old Carl Blade was discovered in Cooke Park along 7th Street Northwest. A Parks Department employee discovered the man in an encampment that had been set up in some trees inside the park. A determination of the cause and manner of his death is still pending but a police spokesman says there were no indications that file play was involved.
