Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- 40 people will have a chance to hunt for deer at an Olmsted County park this fall.

Chester Woods Regional Park will have a shotgun-only deer hunt that opens on November 19 and closes on November 27. A news release from the Olmsted County Parks Division says the goal of the hunt is to harvest enough deer to keep the herd population at a healthy level.

Those who receive permission to hunt the park are required to have at least one disease management harvest tag allowing the taking of additional antlerless deer. Hunters will be selected through a lottery. The window to enter the lottery opened Thursday and closes on Friday, September 23 at 5 p.m.

Registration applications for the lottery are available electronically or in paper form at the county’s main office building, 2122 Campus Drive SE, Suite 200 Rochester MN 55904. The office’s hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
