Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Officials in Minneapolis are reporting two fatal shootings that occurred in a span of less than 24 hours.

Both of the gunshot victims have been described as males in their early 20’s. The two fatal shootings happened along Newton Ave. in North Minneapolis. 

The first shooting was reported shortly before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Minneapolis Police responded to a residence where the front door was open.

Inside was a 21-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Officers rendered life-saving aid but the young man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Less than 18 hours later, police responded to a ShotSpotter notification at an intersection where a 22-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He also died at the scene despite life-saving measures from first responders. 

The preliminary investigation regarding the Wednesday afternoon shooting indicates the victim was involved in an exchange of gunfire with a passing vehicle. 

The victims were turned over to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine their identities. So far no arrests have been announced in either shooting.
