Theilman, MN (KROC-AM News)- A 12-year-old boy was killed after the snowmobile he was operating crashed into a tree in Wabasha County Sunday afternoon.

The Wabasha County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the fatal collision shortly after 1 p.m. in rural Theilman, which is about 35 miles northeast of Rochester. First responders arrived and administered care but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates the 12-year-old was operating the snowmobile on private property when the sled entered a wooded area then struck a tree. The sheriff’s office plans to release more information at a later time.
