16-Year-Old Arrested With Loaded Gun at Southern Minnesota School
Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News)- A 16-year-old student is in law enforcement custody after authorities say they brought a gun into a Mankato high school Wednesday.
A news release from the Mankato Department of Public Safety says the gun was reported at Mankato West High School around 10:10 a.m. Authorities say the firearm was concealed at the time of the teenager’s arrest.
There were no injuries and no known threats at the time of the arrest. The student cooperated with law enforcement and was taken to a juvenile detention facility, the news release says.
Authorities are requesting the teen face charges that include felony possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. Officials say other charges could be possible.
Deputy Director of Mankato Public Safety Matt DuRose said the gun seizure remains under investigation and that no further information will be released at this time.
