2 Dead After Domestic Call, Police Shooting in Freeborn County
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office reports that two people are dead following a law enforcement response to a domestic disturbance “possibly involving firearms.”
According to a statement issued this morning, deputies were called to a rural Albert Lea residence shortly before 7:15 p.m. yesterday. It had been reported that an adult male involved in the incident had left the scene and was possibly headed toward Mower County.

The news release says Mower County deputies later located the man’s vehicle and initiated a pursuit, which ended back at the original residence connected to the domestic disturbance. At that point, the Sheriff's Office says the man exited the vehicle and “a use-of-force incident occurred during which law enforcement officers discharged their firearms.”
Despite life-saving efforts by emergency medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second person, an adult female, was found dead near the residence during a search of the property by other officers. The Sheriff's Office believes she died before deputies arrived.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is leading the investigation. The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.
The Sheriff's Office indicated that portions of the incident were captured on body camera footage. No additional information has been released.
