3 Pound Meth Bust Sends Rochester Man to Prison
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A significant drug bust in Rochester earlier this year has resulted in a 10-year prison sentence for Rochester man.
46-year-old Panh Thavong was arrested in April after a Rochester police officer witnessed what appeared to be a drug transaction involving a motorist and a bicyclist stopped in the middle of the street near the Mayo Civic Center. Thavong was the motorist and a search of his vehicle led to the confiscation of about 1 ½ pounds of methamphetamine and about $1500 cash. That led to the search of some residences in the seizure of another pound and a half of meth and additional cash.
Thavong, who has a criminal history dating back to 1991, earlier pleaded guilty to a first-degree felony drug possession charge through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of several other felony drug charges stemming from his arrest in April.
