Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Southeastern Minnesota is under another air quality alert through 11 a.m. Monday.

Pollution Levels Unhealthy For Everyone

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has also issued alerts for portions of east-central, south-central, and northeastern Minnesota due to smoke from wildfires burning in northern Minnesota and Canada. The MPCA is forecasting air pollution levels that are unhealthy for everyone while the alert is in effect.

As of 10 a.m. Sunday, smoke pollution levels were unhealthy for everyone across the entire southeastern corner of the state, through the Twin Cities area, and extending into east-central Minnesota to near Duluth.

Nearly 80,000 Acres of Minnesota Forest Consumed by Fires

The most recent update from the U.S. Forest Service indicates the fires burning in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Superior National Forest have scorched nearly 80,000 acres of forest. Minnesota officials are reporting that at least 15 active wildfires are burning in northern Minnesota.
