
Alcohol Suspected in Crash That Killed Southern Minnesota Woman
New Ulm, MN (KROC-AM News)- One driver is dead and another is in custody after two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collided in southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon.

The State Patrol responded to the fatal crash shortly before 2 p.m. It happened along Hwy. 68 near the intersection of 15th St. South in New Ulm.
The state crash report indicates a northbound car and southbound SUV collided. The driver of the SUV, identified as 82-year-old Sharon Ann Portner of New Ulm, was pronounced dead at the crash scene.
53-year-old John Roy Deleo of Lake Crystal, MN was driving the car. He was brought to a New Ulm hospital with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.
Deleo was then released from the hospital and booked into the Brown County Jail on suspicion of criminal vehicular homicide and DWI. The state crash report says Deleo had alcohol in his system at the time of the deadly crash.
His arraignment in Brown County Court has not been scheduled as of Friday morning.
