More stormy weather hit southern Minnesota overnight. It appears the south central area took the brunt of the strong cells

that began moving through the region around midnight. Rice, Brown and Blue Earth counties have been reporting heavy rain, damaging winds and large hail. Flooded streets and roads are being reported in Mankato and New Ulm and the surrounding area. Some preliminary rainfall totals are in the 2 - 5 inch range.

Parts of Freeborn County were also hit by a strong storm cell that caused some damage in Albert Lea and the town of Alden, which lost power.

High water is also being reported this morning in the Pine Island and Cannon Falls areas.

The system arrived in Rochester around 4 a.m. and dumped more than half an inch of rain at the airport in less than an hour. The threat of more severe weather in the Rochester area is expected to diminish this morning but then more is in the forecast tonight through tomorrow night.

The Rochester airport has recorded more than 3 ½ inches of rain since Saturday and could receive another inch or two before drier weather moves into the region.
