James has milestone triple-double

UNDATED (AP)— LeBron James recorded his 40th career triple-double while Kyrie Irving matched his season high with 32 points and the Cleveland Cavaliers routed the Sacramento Kings 120-100.

James scored 21 points to go along with 10 assists and 10 rebounds for his first triple-double of the season. The four-time MVP didn't play the fourth quarter.

Irving was 13 of 21 from the field and tied his career high with 12 assists. J.R. Smith hit six 3-pointers and finished with 22 points.

In other NBA:

— Toronto remained two games back of Cleveland in the race for best record in the East by topping Detroit 103-89. Kyle Lowry scored 35 for the Raptors, who've won 23 consecutive games when allowing fewer than 100 points.

— Indiana's Paul George scored all seven of his second-half points in the final 71 seconds and Monta Ellis made two free throws with 20.6 seconds left to seal an 89-87 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers. George finished with 21 points and nine rebounds.

— Kemba Walker scored 30 points, and the Charlotte Hornets led from the start and beat the Chicago Bulls 108-91.

— Joe Johnson's 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted the Brooklyn Nets to a 105-104 victory over the Denver Nuggets. Thaddeus Young scored 20 points to lead the Nets.

— The L.A. Clippers needed overtime to beat Philadelphia 98-92. J.J. Redick had 23 points, including the tying 3-pointer late in regulation. Jamal Crawford also scored 23.

— Anthony Davis and Jrue Holiday scored 27 points apiece, and the New Orleans Pelicans snapped a four-game losing streak with a 116-102 victory over Minnesota.

— Damian Lillard poured in 33 points in leading Portland to a 112-106 overtime win over Minnesota.

— Oklahoma City solidified its grip on third place in the Western Conference by beating Phoenix 122-106. Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 32. Russell Westbrook added 29 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

— In another overtime tussle, Orlando downed Atlanta 117-100. Nicola Vucevic scored 35 of his game-high 28 after halftime.

Fisher fired as coach

NEW YORK (AP) — Derek Fisher has been fired as coach of the New York Knicks. The dismissal came hours after the club lost its fifth straight game on Sunday. The Knicks have dropped nine of 10 and fallen to 23-31, in 12th place in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Fisher went 40-96 after being hired in June 2014 following the end of his playing career.

Associate head coach Kurt Rambis has been promoted to interim head coach. His first game is Tuesday night against Washington.

WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL

UConn rolls over Gamecocks to go to 23-0

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Connecticut once again proved it is still rocks the world of women's basketball.

Breanna Stewart had 25 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots as No. 1 UConn ran past No. 2 South Carolina 66-54.

The Gamecocks had won their first 22 games and, in front of their first sold out crowd at 18,000-seat Colonial Life Arena, figured to give the three-time defending NCAA champion Huskies their sternest test of the season.

Instead, Stewart and UConn led by 15 points in the second quarter and never let the Southeastern Conference champs get back in it. Morgan Tuck had 16 points and Moriah Jefferson 12 for UConn.

Unranked Duke pops Louisville...OU escapes Texas on Hield 3-pointer

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) —Duke may not be ranked, but the Blue Devils are still a force at home. Freshman Brandon Ingram had 18 points and 10 rebounds and Duke beat No. 13 Louisville 72-65.

Grayson Allen scored 19 points and Luke Kennard had 11 for the Blue Devils, who are 18-6 overall and 7-4 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. They shot 50 percent in the second half and hit 10 of 12 free throws in the final 3:14 while beating a ranked opponent for the first time this season.

In the only other game involving a ranked team, Bobby Hield canned a three-pointer with 1.4 seconds left to give third-ranked Oklahoma a 63-60 win over 24th-ranked Texas. Hield scored the Sooners' final 12 points and finished with 27.

Surging Penguins end Ducks' win streak

UNDATED (AP)— Sidney Crosby scored on a pair of breakaways to extend his goal streak to a career-best seven games and added two assists to help the Pittsburgh Penguins continue their surge with a 6-2 win over the Anaheim Ducks. The Penguins have won six of seven and snapped the Ducks' six-game win streak.

— Henrik Lundqvist made 27 saves and the New York Rangers posted their first three-game winning streak since November with a 2-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

— Detroit blanked Atlantic Division-leading Florida 3-0. Pavel Datsyuk scored twice in a 1:08 span midway through the third period. Petr Mrazek made 23 saves for his fourth shutout of the season.

__ Mark Stone had two goals and an assist and the Ottawa Senators beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-1. Stone has five goals and three assists in his past four games.

BOSTON (AP) — Alex Tuch scored 1:57 into overtime and Boston College beat Boston University for its 20th Beanpot championship in the first 1-0 game in tournament's 64-year history.

Super Bowl scores big...So does Vegas...But tweets are down

NEW YORK (AP) —Sunday's Super Bowl drew an average of 111.9 million viewers for Denver's victory over Carolina. That was lower than the past two years.

The rating makes Sunday's game the third most-watched event in U.S. television history, according to the Nielsen company. Last year's down-to-the-wire contest between New England and Seattle keeps the record with 114.4 million viewers.

In other Super Bowl nuggets:

— Twitter said that there were 16.9 million tweets about the game, sharply down from last year's 25.1 million. Facebook reported that there were 200 million posts, comments or "likes," down from 265 million last year.

— Meanwhile in Nevada, Super Bowl fans bet a record $132.5 million at Nevada sportsbooks on the 50th version of the game. The Nevada Gaming Control Board says its preliminary estimate that Nevada's 194 sports books kept about 10.1 percent of the wagers, for a total win of $13.3 million.

— Carolina and New England are early favorites at Nevada sportsbooks to win the 2017 Super Bowl, followed by the Seahawks, Packers and Steelers. The Panthers were listed at 7-1 and the Patriots 8-1 at the William Hill Race & Sports Book, while Pregame.com set the line for New England at 9-1 and Carolina 10-1.

— And in case you were wondering: No, Anheuser-Busch didn't pay Peyton Manning to say he'd be drinking a lot of Budweiser after winning the Super Bowl. The company's verified Twitter account said, "We didn't know the shout-out was coming either, but we're glad it did."

Agent: Lynch to retire...Eagles part ways with Cooper

UNDATED (AP) — The agent for Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch has confirmed that his client intends to retire from football. Doug Hendrickson confirmed his client's plans to The Associated Press.

Lynch had indicated as much Sunday night by tweeting a picture with a pair of cleats hanging from a power or telephone line, along with an emoji depicting a peace sign. Lynch, who turns 30 in April, won a Super Bowl with Seattle and played nine seasons in the NFL.

— The Eagles have released wide receiver Riley Cooper after six seasons. His best season came in 2013, when he had 47 catches for 835 yards and eight touchdowns. He played in half his team's offensive snaps this past season.

— Buffalo running back LeSean McCoy is under investigation in Philadelphia over the alleged assault of two off-duty police officers at a nightclub that left them both with injuries. Police say a fight broke out early Sunday over a bottle of champagne. They say four men punched, kicked and stomped an officer who was knocked to the ground. The second off-duty officer intervened with security guards. All were ejected from the club.

Affidavit: Manziel hit his ex

DALLAS (AP) — The ex-girlfriend of Johnny Manziel says in an affidavit that he hit her so hard during a late-night confrontation, that she has lost hearing in one ear. The affidavit filed by Colleen Crowley was obtained by KXAS-TV in Dallas.

Crowley won a protective order last week against Manziel, the Cleveland Browns quarterback who is being investigated on allegations of domestic violence.

She suffered a ruptured eardrum that is expected to heal.

The Browns are expected to part with Manziel next month after the latest in a string of troubling off-field incidents.

D'backs land Clippard

PHOENIX (AP) — Reliever Tyler Clippard has agreed to a two-year, $12.25 million contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The deal with the right-hander adds a proven reliever and additional late-game option for the Diamondbacks. Arizona has boosted it starting rotation by signing Zack Grienke and acquiring Shelby Miller in a trade with Atlanta.

Clippard was 5-4 with a 2.92 ERA last year with the Oakland Athletics and New York Mets, holding batters to a .186 average, 10th-best in the majors.

— A person with knowledge of the deal says J.D. Martinez has agreed to an $18.5 million, two-year contract with the Detroit Tigers, avoiding salary arbitration. The 28-year-old Martinez batted .282 with 38 home runs and 102 RBIs last season. He hit 23 homers in 2014 after he was released by Houston during spring training and the Tigers signed him.

Free agent outfielder arrested in parking lot spat

MIAMI (AP) — Police say free agent outfielder Delmon Young was arrested after he choked and threatened a parking attendant at a Miami hotel Sunday night.

Young, a 30-year-old who appeared in 52 games for the Baltimore Orioles last year, grabbed the attendant's neck and called him a "stupid Cuban," according to an arrest report. The attendant told police he had refused to let Young on an elevator to a club at the Viceroy Miami because the club was closed.
