Warriors win 10th straight to go to 47-4...Knicks lose first under Rambis

UNDATED (AP) — The red-hot Golden State Warriors are now 47-4 -- the best record after 51 games in NBA history.

The Warriors won their 10th in a row by beating Houston 123-110 behind Steph Curry's 35 points and nine assists. Harrison Barnes was the go-to guy late for the Warriors. He scored 17 of his 19 in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors are now 24-0 at home. They're riding a 42-game home winning streak at Oracle Arena.

James Harden led all scorers with 37 for the Rockets -- after being scoreless in the fourth quarter. The Rockets have lost their last eight meetings against Golden State.

In other NBA:

— The New York Knicks have changed coaches, but little else. John Wall had 28 points and 17 assists, Bradley Beal scored 26, and the Washington Wizards beat New York 111-108 in the Knicks' first game under Kurt Rambis. Rambis took over for Derek Fisher, who was fired as coach of the Knicks, who now have lost six in a row. Carmelo Anthony had 33 for the Knicks in the loss.

— LaMarcus Aldridge scored 28 points, Kawhi Leonard added 23 and the San Antonio beat the Miami Heat 119-101. Danny Green added 15 for the Spurs, who've won six straight over the Heat going back to the 2014 NBA Finals.

— The Milwaukee Bucks withstood a 37-point fourth quarter from Boston to nip the Celtics 112-111. Greg Monroe led the Bucks with 29 points and 12 boards. Khris Middleton made one of two free throws with six-tenths of a second left to win it.

— Utah notched a 121-119 overtime win in Dallas. Rodney Hood led the Jazz with 29 points. Gordon Hayward hit a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer to win it in OT.

NBA-CLIPPERS-GRIFFIN SUSPENDED

Clippers suspend Griffin

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Clippers have suspended star forward Blake Griffin for four games without pay for punching a team staff member in Toronto last month. The $859,442 Griffin will lose will be donated to charity.

A team spokesman said the suspension will begin when Griffin is healthy, cleared to play and active. He was expected to be out four to six weeks while his hand heals from the Jan. 23 incident.

Griffin has been sidelined since Dec. 26 with a partially torn left quadriceps tendon.

Bulls' Butler sidelined...So is Grizzlies' Gasol

CHICAGO (AP) — Bulls guard Jimmy Butler will miss the next 3-4 weeks with a strained left knee. He will be replaced in this weekend's All-Star Game by Chicago teammate Pau Gasol.

Butler was injured during Friday night's game at Denver.

In other league news:

— Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol is out indefinitely with a broken bone in his right foot after an MRI exam found the fracture. The Grizzlies say they will update Gasol's status after the All-Star break. The 7-foot-1 Gasol is averaging 16.6 points and 7.0 rebounds in 52 games this season.

— Coach George Karl has been given a vote of confidence by the Sacramento Kings. The club is 21-31 and on a four-game losing streak. The Kings have lost 8 of 10 entering tonight's game at Philadelphia.

— Miami's Heat are going to honor Shaquille O'Neal by retiring his No. 32. The club says the festivities will take place at the start of next season. Miami is the second team to retire his number as the Heat join the Lakers.

— Marv Albert has a new contract to call NBA games on TNT. As part of a multiyear contract extension he will no longer call NCAA Tournament games. The Hall of Fame broadcaster has been associated with the NBA for nearly 50 years.

Tar Heels win with coach ailing...Kansas creates 3-way tie atop the Big 12

UNDATED (AP) — Ninth-ranked North Carolina rallied to beat Boston College 68-65, thanks to 20 points from Justin Jackson. The Tar Heels played most of the second half without coach Roy Williams, who left the bench after complaining of vertigo. A UNC spokesman says Williams got dizzy but is doing OK.

Assistant coach Steve Robinson assumed coaching duties on the sideline.

The 65-year-old Williams had previous bouts with vertigo in the past and felt dizzy when standing up quickly. After the game, Williams said, "I'm alive. I'm kicking."

The Tar Heels snapped a two-game losing streak.

In other AP Top-25 hoops:

— Top-ranked Villanova routed DePaul 86-59. Josh Hart led the way with 18. Kris Jenkins made three 3-pointers and finished with 13 points as the Wildcats rolled to their 13th win in their last 14 games.

— Second-ranked Maryland got 16 points from Rasheed Sulaimon and cruised past Division Two Bowie State 93-62 for its school-record 27th consecutive home victory.

— Maurice Watson scored a career-high 32 points and Creighton rode a fast start to a 70-56 upset of fifth-ranked Xavier. Xavier got 17 points from Jalen Reynolds and 14 from James Farr.

— There's a three-way tie atop the Big 12 among Kansas, Oklahoma and West Virginia. Perry Ellis had 21 points, Landen Lucas pulled down a career-high 16 rebounds and sixth-ranked Kansas beat No. 10 West Virginia 75-65.

— Anthony Gill scored 16 points and No. 7 Virginia turned the tables on state rival Virginia Tech, 67-49. That's the Cavaliers' seventh straight victory.

— Raphael Davis made one of two free throws with 4.6 seconds left in overtime to help No. 18 Purdue pull off an 82-81 upset over eighth-ranked Michigan State. The 20-5 Boilermakers snapped a seven-game losing streak in the series with Michigan State.

— Guard Angel Rodriguez scored on an offensive rebound with 1.4 seconds left and No. 12 Miami edged Pittsburgh 65-63. That was the only offensive rebound of the game for the 5-foot-11 Rodriguez, who had 17 points and eight assists.

— No. 19 Dayton squeaked out a 76-74 win over Duquesne Scoochie Smith hit a 3-pointer that put the Flyers ahead for good. Dayton closed with a 19-5 run to improve to 20-3.

— No. 22 Kentucky routed Georgia 82-48. Jamal Murray scored 24 points, Tyler Ulis added 14 as the Wildcats held the Bulldogs to 22 percent shooting.

— Ron Baker and Shaq Morris had 11 points each and No. 25 Wichita State pounded Drake 74-48 for its 12th win in 13 games.

Kings hang 9 on the B's

UNDATED (AP)— Milan Lucic had a successful return to Boston. So did the rest of the L.A. Kings, who had nine goal-scorers in their 9-2 rout of the Bruins.

Lucic scored, Drew Doughty had a power-play for his 300th career point and Marian Gaborik had a goal and one assist.

— Tomas Plekanec scored twice and the Montreal Canadiens won their third straight game, 4-2 over Tampa Bay.

— Mark Scheifele scored in the fourth round for his first career shootout goal in four attempts, and the Winnipeg Jets beat the St. Louis Blues 2-1.

— Defenseman Alex Petrovic scored in the opening minute of the second period to cap Florida's four-goal opening surge, and the Panthers coasted to a 7-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres.

— Marcus Johansson had a goal and two assists to lead the Washington Capitals over the Nashville Predators 5-3. Tom Wilson and Justin Williams each had a goal and an assist for the Caps.

— San Jose blanked Chicago 2-0. Martin Jones gets the shutout with 29 saves. Patrick Marleau (MAHR'-loh) scored his 16th goal.

— Vancouver scored all three of its goals in the second period and beat Colorado 3-1. Francois Beauchemin (boh-sheh-MEH') got the scoring started with his seventh goal.

— Kari Lehtonen made 37 saves to win for the first time in more than a month to give the Dallas Stars a 4-3 victory over Minnesota. That's the 10th loss in the last 11 games for the fading Wild. John Klingberg got the game-winner in OT.

— Markus Granlund scored short-handed for his first goal in 21 games and added an assist to lead the Calgary Flames to a 4-3 victory over Toronto.

Multiplayer deal worked out

UNDATED (AP) — Ottawa and Toronto have pulled off a nine-player trade that sent defenseman Dion Phaneuf to the Senators. In the deal the Sens receive Phaneuf, forwards Matt Frattin, Casey Bailey and Ryan Rupert, and defensive prospect Cody Donaghey. The Maple Leafs get defenseman Jared Cowen, forwards Milan Michalek, Colin Greening and Tobias Lindberg and a second-round pick in the 2017 draft.

Phaneuf had been the Maple Leafs' captain for the past six seasons. The 30-year-old has five years left on his contract at a salary-cap hit of $7 million.

— The New Jersey Devils have retired Martin Brodeur's No. 30 jersey during a pregame ceremony before the Devils' 2-1 win over Edmonton. After serenading the NHL's winningest goalie with chants of "Mar-ty, Mar-ty, Mar-ty" and "Marty is better," the sellout crowd at the Prudential Center gave Brodeur a standing ovation that lasted more than 2 minutes and grew louder by the second.

— Center Evgeni Malkin of the Penquins will miss at least the rest of the week with a lower-body injury. The four-time All-Star has missed each of Pittsburgh's last three games after initially sustaining the injury last week. Malkin has 23 goals and 26 assists in 49 games this season for Pittsburgh, which has won six of seven to move into third in the Metropolitan Division.

A Mile High parade

DENVER (AP) — The city of Denver has toasted the Broncos Super Bowl victory with a parade and rally. A million fans -- according to an estimate from the major's office -- took part in the festivities as the Broncos celebrated their first NFL championship in 17 years.

Among the Broncos on hand were quarterback Peyton Manning, Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and coach Gary Kubiak.

Parade goers were packed about 20 or 30 people deep along the parade route with some watching from balconies and rooftops and a few climbed trees.

Manning avoided saying anything about whether he will return to play for another season at the rally after the parade.

NFL-PANTHERS-NEWTON

Newton: "I am not about to conform"

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Panthers quarterback Cam Newton says he's a bad loser and isn't apologizing for his post-Super Bowl news conference.

The NFL MVP gave short one- and two-word answers and abruptly left his interview podium after a short period of taking questions.

While cleaning out his locker at the team facility, Newton told reporters, "Show me a good loser and I'll show you a loser." He went on to say, he wouldn't conform to anyone else's standards.

NASCAR-CHARTERS

NASCAR changes to franchise model

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — NASCAR has announced a dramatic overhaul of its business model, shifting to a franchise-like system that is intended to provide actual value and financial stability to team owners.

The change gets away from the independent contractor model that is dependent on sponsors which has been used since NASCAR's 1948 inception.

A total of 36 charters will be available to organizations that have fielded Sprint Cup cars in every race since 2013.

A charter guarantees revenue and a position in what will now be a 40-car Sprint Cup field, down from 43.

Every organization is allowed a maximum of four charters.

AP Source: Jays, Donaldson nearing deal

UNDATED (AP) — The Blue Jays and American League MVP Josh Donaldson are reportedly closing in on a contract to avoid arbitration. A person familiar with the negotiations says the two sides are nearing agreement on a $28.65 million, two-year contract.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press because the agreement had not been completed. The progress toward a deal was first reported by Sportsnet in Canada.

Donaldson made the AL All-Star team for the second straight season in 2015 and led the majors with 122 runs. He also topped the AL with 123 RBIs, and hit .297 with 41 home runs to help the Blue Jays reach the playoffs.

Elsewhere:

— Houston has won its arbitration case with catcher Jason Castro. The 28-year old was an All-Star in 2013 but hit just .211 last season. Nonetheless he was awarded $5 million by the arbitrators. He wanted $5.25 million.

— Pitcher Mat Latos has agreed to a $3 million, one-year contract with the Chicago White Sox. Latos played for the Marlins, Dodgers and Angels last season, finishing with a 4-10 record and a 4.95 ERA. He won 14 games in 2012 and 2013 for the Reds.

MLB-SELIG

It's now Professor Selig

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) — Former baseball commissioner Bud Selig will teach sports law and business at Arizona State's Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law.

The university says the 81-year-old Selig had been appointed the O'Connor distinguished professor of sports in America. In addition to teaching, he will become founding president of the sports law and business advisory board at ASU.
