Bosh being traded for blood clot

UNDATED (AP) — The Miami Heat were without Chris Bosh for the final 30 games of last season due to a blood clot. The Heat could be in the same situation this season.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because neither the team nor Bosh has revealed anything publicly.

Typically, athletes in contact sports are discouraged from playing while taking blood-thinning medication.

Bosh was sidelined after last year's All-Star break because a blood clot was found on one of his lungs.

Hawks, Hornets lose players to season-ending injuries

UNDATED (AP) — The Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets have seen their rosters thinned out by injuries.

Splitter was expected to bolster Atlanta's depth after being acquired from San Antonio last summer, but he averaged only 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 36 games.

The Hornets have announced that forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will have surgery Wednesday on his right shoulder again and will miss the remainder of the NBA season.
