St Paul (KROC AM News) - An area artist has won a prestigious annual contest.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has announced St. Charles artist Micah Hanson has won the 2019 turkey stamp contest.

This isn’t something new for Hanson.

The DNR says his artwork was previously featured on the 2011 and 2015 turkey stamps. He also won contests for the 2000 and 2003 trout and salmon stamp.

The winning painting was selected by judges from among 12 submissions for the annual contest.

The DNR offers no prizes for the stamp contest winner, but the artist retains the right to reproduce the work.
