Area Man Seriously Hurt in MC Wreck

A Hammond man was seriously injured last night when the motorcycle he was driving was struck by a car east of Rochester.   The accident happened around 7:30 on Highway 14 near Chester.

The State Patrol says 45 year old Gregory Baumler was airlifted to St. Mary’s where he was reported in critical condition this morning.  A witness says Baumler suffered head injuries. He was not wearing a helmet.

The State Patrol says a vehicle that was eastbound on Highway 14 was struck from behind by an SUV and pushed across the centerline where it collided with the westbound motorcycle.
