Attempted Murder Charge Brought in Fillmore County Stabbing
Preston, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Fillmore County man arrested after a stabbing in Ostrander over the weekend is due to make his first court appearance today.
Prosecutors have charged 23-year-old Noah Foster of Wykoff with second degree attempted murder, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of fifth-degree assault. Foster is accused of stabbing a man in the upper chest and shoulder six times in a vehicle behind Susie’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill in Ostrander around 8:20 a.m. Sunday morning.
Court records say Foster’s girlfriend told police he suspected her of cheating on him with the stabbing victim and told her he was going to confront the man. The victim and Foster work at Susie’s Roadhouse Bar and Grill, the charges say.
During an interview with investigators at a hospital, the victim said he and Foster went to the victim’s vehicle that was parked behind the restaurant for a smoke break. The victim said he was in the driver’s seat and Foster was in the passenger’s seat when Foster began swinging at the victim with a knife, according to the criminal complaint.
The victim said he then charged at Foster, causing the two men to fall out of the vehicle on the passenger side. The victim then reported pulling Foster’s coat over his head, fleeing back inside of the restaurant where he locked the door and called authorities, the complaint says.
The victim and other employees in the store shared Foster’s description and deputies began searching for him by reviewing nearby surveillance footage and going door-to-door asking residents if they had seen Foster. The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office also issued a crime alert.
A citizen then reported seeing Foster around 12:45 p.m. Sunday. Law enforcement identified and arrested Foster, who refused to identify himself to officers during the arrest and booking process, the complaint states.
Authorities eventually identified Foster through a driver’s license photo, physical descriptors, booking photos from 2019 in Itasca County, and witness statements. Jail records indicate Foster is in custody at the Fillmore County Jail as of Tuesday morning.
