Austin Area Man Sentenced For Causing Horrific Injuries to Infant
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News) - An Austin-area man was sentenced Thursday for an attack that left a 2-month child with horrific injuries.
25-year-old Nathaniel Ambrose of Lyle was ordered to prison for just over 7-years for his conviction on a first-degree assault charge. He was also ordered to pay about $46,000 in restitution.
Ambrose earlier pleaded guilty in the case. He was charged after his girlfriend’s infant son was admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit at St. Marys Hospital in August 2018 with multiple injuries that included a possible brain bleed and wounds to his face and pelvic area. His mother told investigators her baby appeared to be fine when she left the infant in the care of Ambrose when departed for work that day. When she returned home, she found blood coming from the baby’s month.
Court records say Ambrose initially denied causing the injuries and gave various explanations about what may have happened.
