
Crash at Austin Intersection Sends 72-Year-Old Motorcyclist to Hospital
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- A motorcyclist was taken to a hospital by ambulance after colliding with a pick-up truck in Austin.

Austin Police Chief David McKichan says officers responded to the crash around 9:45 Tuesday morning.
Responding officers found the operator pinned under the motorcycle and rendered aid to him at the crash scene. The driver of the pick-up was at the scene when officers arrived.

Crash Involving Motorcycle & Pick-Up Truck Sends Austin Man to the Hospital
The crash occurred at the intersection of 4th St. and 7th Ave. Northwest.
McKichan says the pick-up driver reported making a left turn from northbound 4th St. to 7th Ave. when the motorcycle struck the pick-up behind the driver’s side door.
Police identified the pick-up driver as 79-year-old Ronald Anderson of Austin. The police report indicates he was not hurt.
72-year-old Stephen Hummel of Austin was identified as the motorcycle operator. McKichan says he was not wearing a helmet.
Officers freed him from the motorcycle and first responders began treating him for a laceration on the right side of his head, according to McKichan.

Hummel was taken by Mayo Clinic Ambulance to a hospital for further care. An update on his condition is not available as of Wednesday morning.
McKichan says the crash is under investigation and that investigators are awaiting an interview with Hummel.
