The third-degree murder charges are linked to the drug overdose death of a 23-year-old Austin man last March and another deadly drug overdose that claimed the life of a 22-year-old Austin woman in May of last year. In both cases, investigators uncovered evidence that Thomas was the source of fatal doses of fentanyl blamed for both deaths.

The criminal complaints in the two cases state that Thomas admitted to investigators that she had sold the overdose victims fentanyl. She indicated that she needed the money to support her own drug habit and "make a little extra money."

The judge in the case ordered a presentence investigation on Thomas. Her sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 9th.
