Authorities Release ID of Apparent Drowning Victim

Authorities have released the name of the woman whose body was recovered from the Mississippi River in Wabasha Thursday afternoon. Police Chief Jim Warren says 49-year-old Nancee Kretschmer of Wabasha was found by a member of the Winona County dive team in the river near the National Eagle Center. The search for Kretschmer began earlier in the day after authorities discovered footprints on the ice extending about 40 yards from shore to the channel’s open water.
