Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – A young autistic boy ended up in the fast-moving and cold Zumbro River in downtown Rochester Sunday.

A 911 call was made around 2:30 PM about the boy in the water near the South Broadway bridge.

Rochester firefighters who were nearby at Station #1 rushed to the river and rescued the 4-year-old. A police spokesman says the boy’s father also called 911 after realizing his son was missing at Soldiers Field Park. The spokesman says the boy was okay but was taken to St. Marys Hospital to be checked for possible hypothermia.
