Big Name Clothing Store Now Adding Two Spots In Minnesota

We hear a lot about retail locations closing these days, but here's some good news about a national clothing retailer that's actually set to open two new locations here in Minnesota. 

You'll soon be able to shop 'til you drop at two new retail locations. A well-known national clothing chain is expanding its presence in the North Star State, with two brand-new locations set to open soon, which means that Minnesotans' closets are about to get an upgrade.

It's no secret that these are challenging times for traditional brick-and-mortar retail stores. Many once-profitable brands, like Sears and J.C. Penney, have had difficulties keeping their retail stores open and have faced bankruptcy. Even the storied Macy's brand announced earlier this year that it would be closing 66 stores across the country.

Meanwhile, closer to home, Midwest-based Kohl's said back in January that it would be shutting the doors permanently at 27 different locations this spring. A release from the Kohl's Corporation, which opened its first store in Brookfield, Wisconsin, in 1962, said the stores marked for closing had been 'underperforming' and were all shuttered back in April.

But now there's word that two new retail locations of Ross Dress For Less are set to open here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. We'd heard earlier this spring that the chain, which was founded in 1982 and is headquartered in Dublin, California, was set to expand to several states this year, including Minnesota.

According to its website, Ross Dress For Less says it operates 1,847 locations across 44 states (and Guam). It describes itself as 'the nation’s largest off-price retail chain,' and says:

Since 1982, our focus has been on bringing our customers a constant stream of high-quality department and specialty store brands at extraordinary savings (aka bargains) while providing an easy, fun and organized shopping experience.

The Ross Dress For Less store locator for Minnesota says that there are currently five locations in Minnesota:

• East St. Paul
• Inver Grove Heights
• Maplewood
• Rochester
• St. Cloud

It also notes that the Rochester location is the newest, having opened last year. And the Ross Dress For Less Minnesota store locator also lists its two new locations, which aren't yet open here in the Bold North, with one location listing its hours as 'closed' in Savage and another in Woodbury.

Specifically, the Savage store will be located at 14375 State Highway. 13 South, near the Target location. The Woodbury store will be located at 8268 Tamarack Village, in the space that used to be home to Gordman's. This BringMeTheNews story says they're both set to open in July.
