Big Project on Highway 52 North of Rochester Resumes on Thursday
Zumbrota, MN (KROC-AM News) - A major highway project that was postponed a couple of weeks due to inclement weather is set to get underway on Thursday and motorists are being advised to expect some traffic delays on Highway 52 between Zumbrota and Cannon Falls.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation says those traffic delays are most likely to occur in the construction zones during the morning commute, the afternoon and evening commute, and on weekends. The project will restrict traffic to a single lane in each direction along sections of the busy corridor over the next seven months.
The work scheduled to take place this year includes building a new interchange at the Highway 52 junction with Highway 57 near Hader, replacing the southbound bridge over Highway 52 for Highway 60 East, constructing a new Goodhue County Road 14 connection with frontage roads and cul-de-sacs, along with reconstructing Highway 52 from Goodhue County Road 9 to Goodhue County Road 50.
Detours will be established for travelers using Goodhue County Road 9, Goodhue County Road 8, and Highway 57. MnDOT also says access to Highway 52 from several township roads in the construction zone will be closed permanently as part of the safety improvement project.
