
Update: Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Son For His Father’s Murder
Mapleton, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities in southern Minnesota say a man is dead and his son is in custody.

Law enforcement discovered the apparent homicide after responding to the report of a vehicle off the road near a golf course.
A news release issued by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office says the ordeal unfolded Tuesday morning.

Deputies Find Minnesota Man Dead of "Obvious Signs of Trauma," Suspect Arrested
Deputies and troopers responded to the vehicle off the road around 2:10 a.m. on Hwy. 22 near Terrace View Golf Course, which is about five miles south of Mankato.
Law enforcement was told a man was seen abandoning the vehicle, but authorities could not find anyone. Deputies then went to the home of the vehicle’s registered owner in Mapleton, which is 12 miles south of the golf course.
Upon arriving at the home, law enforcement found the registered owner dead inside. The news release says there were obvious signs the man suffered trauma.
The man found dead has been identified as 71-year-old Blaine Lars Almhjeld. Law enforcement knew his son, 47-year-old Troy Blaine Almhjeld, also lives at the residence.
Authorities searched for Troy along Hwy. 22. He approached law enforcement and was taken into custody on suspicion of second-degree murder.
The murder case is under investigation by the Blue Earth County Sheriff’s Office and Mapleton Police Department with assistance from the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
