The vehicle crashed at the I-90 and Hwy. 42 interchange just south of Eyota. Deputies found the body of a 35-year-old woman in the back of the vehicle, the news release says.
The news release says the condition of the body indicated the woman had not died as a result of a car accident. 32-year-old Margot Lewis was identified as the driver.
Deputies found a passerby attending to her when they arrived at the scene. Lewis was taken from the crash scene to St. Mary’s Hospital then transported to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center once she was medically cleared, authorities say.
Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Captain Tim Parkin says Lewis, who has an unknown residence, was arrested on suspicion of interference with a dead body.

She is being held behind bars and is scheduled to make her first appearance in Olmsted County Court on Tuesday. The name of the deceased is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), Eyota Fire Department, and Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
The woman’s death is under investigation and no further information is being released at this time.
