The call came from the Lyndale Boat Launch, which is just east of I-35W in Bloomington. Authorities used sonar to locate the vehicle but could not immediately send in divers due to the high rushing water, the news release says.

Efforts to recover the vehicle Sunday night and Monday without using divers were not successful. Officials say on Tuesday, with the assistance of a contractor, crews hooked the vehicle and pulled it out of the water around 10:45 a.m.

Officials confirmed a body was inside of the vehicle. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner responded to the scene to identify the person and determine their cause and manner of death. The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death.

While looking for the vehicle with the body, authorities found a second vehicle under the water. Crews pulled that vehicle out of the water around 2:45 Tuesday afternoon.

No remains were found in the second vehicle, which is believed to have been underwater for a lengthy period of time, according to the news release.

Authorities say the second vehicle recovered is not related to the first vehicle pulled from the water.
