Boil Water Advisory Issued for RPU Customers in Area of 65th St. NW, Hwy. 52

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) has issued a Boil Water Advisory for a northwest Rochester neighborhood.

It applies for customers located near the 65th St. NW and Hwy. 52 corridor. The advisory was issued Thursday morning. 

The affected area generally includes neighborhoods and properties along and near 65th Street Northwest, Overland Drive Northwest, Bandel Road Northwest and Boulder Ridge Drive Northwest, including portions of the Boulder Ridge and Overland Pointe areas.

RPU says the advisory was issued due to a watermain break in the area.

Impacted customers are advised to boil tap water for at least one minute before drinking it, using it to cook or prepare food, brushing teeth, making ice and preparing infant formula.

Use of tap water for bathing, showering and laundry is safe to continue, RPU says.

Repair Work Began Around 8:30 Thursday Morning

Crews began excavating and repair work around 8:30 Thursday morning. RPU estimates the advisory will be lifted within 36 hours, pending repair work and follow-up testing of the water.

RPU says they will notify impacted customer once the advisory has ended and water is confirmed safe for normal use.
