Brainerd snowmobiler killed by train

(Brainerd, MN) -- A snowmobiler is dead after colliding with a train in Brainerd on Sunday. Investigators say an empty Burlington Northern Santa Fe coal train was entering Brainerd near state Highway 25 when 30-year-old Michael Flanagan crossed the tracks in front of the train, despite the fact that the operator was blasting the horn. Flanagan died shortly after emergency medical personnel arrived.
