Students at St. Mary’s University in Winona will soon have another bridge to use  when crossing Highway 14.

The pedestrian bridge that had crossed the highway was hit hard by a semi-truck last month and had to be removed.  This has forced students to use a designated crosswalk when walking to and from the campus.

MNDOT is planning to install a temporary bridge at the site this Thursday.  It’s hoped the work will be completed that day. A detour will be in place while the bridge is installed.

MNDOT hopes to install a permanent bridge within 2 - 3 years.

The detour for eastbound Highway 14 traffic is Winona County Road 23 north at Stockton to Highway 61 south at Minnesota City. Westbound Highway 14 traffic should follow the route in reverse.
