Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  It was a full day of shopping for Rochester area residents on Friday.

Stores large and small offered Black Friday specials that attracted thousands of shoppers to shopping centers, big box stores and smaller businesses. While many started in the wee hours of the morning or Thursday evening, others waited until the sun was up to head out. Rochester police report large crowds at Apache Mall but no problems were noted. Rochester’s record-setting weather also encouraged more shopping.

Shoppers reported having problems at the Rochester Macy's store that were similar to others around the country.

It was also a busy and steady day Friday at the annual Festival of Trees at the Mayo Civic Center.

Hundreds strolled through the venue checking out the beautifully decorated trees. The FOT is a very successful fundraising event for Rochester’s Hiawatha Homes.

It continues through Sunday afternoon.
