Byron, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Byron man was arrested for DUI early Sunday - after he had fled an Olmsted County deputy and drove home.

A deputy clocked a car speeding at nearly 80-miles per hour on Highway 14 near Byron around 2:30 Sunday morning. The man exited the highway and the deputy tried to pull him over but he would not stop. The man drove through the frontage road ditch and back onto the highway - going the wrong way. He then drove back into Byron and the deputy broke off the pursuit near Somerby golf course.

But the deputy was able to get the license plate number and learned the owner was 33-year-old Matthew Erwin. The deputy went to Erwin’s house and found the car in the garage. Erwin’s wife answered the door and said her husband was upstairs. Moments later, Erwin ran out the back door.

Other deputies were called to the scene and about an hour later, Erwin was apprehended. A test showed his blood/alcohol level was .15.
