Byron Man Sentenced For Construction Site Thefts
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A second man has been given a probationary sentence for his involvement in a series of thefts from construction sites in the Rochester area.
An Olmsted County Judge has ordered 26-year-old Justin Quam to 10-years on probation and to pay restitution that will be determined at a future date. Quam entered guilty pleas to multiple felony counts of aiding and abetting theft on Wednesday. Burglary and criminal damage to property charges filed against Quam in connection with thousands of dollars in vandalism damage to a home under construction in Oronoco last September were dismissed through the plea deal.
It was alleged Quam and 26-year-old Matthew Tlougan were responsible for the thefts of tens of thousands of dollars worth of construction tools and equipment last fall. Both men were arrested after a large stash of stolen items were found at his rural Byron home. Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office investigators reported using a tracking device on Tlougan’s pickup to connect him to another stash of stolen goods at an abandoned farm west of Rochester and the vandalism at the Oronoco residence.
Tlougan previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 5-years probation and about 3-months in jail. He was also ordered to pay restitution.
