Byron Woman Latest To Fall For Bank-Related Scam
Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - Yet another area woman has been ripped off in a bank-related scam.
This time it was a Byron woman and it was nearly identical to the scam that cost a Rochester woman several thousand dollars.
The 35-year-old says she received a phone call and the caller ID indicated it was her bank. Then came a text message from the "bank," informing her of fraudulent activity involving her accounts.
She called the number on her caller ID and a man who answered asked for her account information and social security number. She complied and then found out a few minutes later she had scammed out of $2500.
Both cases involved Think Bank customers.
Investigators suspect the same crooks are involved in both scams.
