Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting reported late Sunday night in rural Northeast Rochester.

Sheriff's Captain Scott Behrns says deputies responded to reports of gunshots in the vicinity of a property in the 700 block of 55th Street Northeast in Cascade Township around 11:30 p.m. When they arrived, the deputies found a white Honda Accord parked near a residence with a significant number of bullet holes. A number of spent shell casings were also found at the scene.

The car is owned by a person living in the area who was sleeping when the shooting occurred. Captain Behrns says the individual has no idea why the vehicle would have been targeted. Officials also noted the car was not the same make as the white vehicle that was captured on a security camera video of a drive-by shooting in Rochester last week.
