Cannon Falls, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Cannon Falls Police Department today provided an update concerning the three children who were critically injured in an apartment fire yesterday.

A statement from the police department says information provided by the father of the children indicates their medical conditions have been stabilized and they have been put into medically induced comas by doctors treating them at a Twin Cities Hospital burn unit. The three children were rescued by Cannon Falls Police Officers, members of an ambulance crew, and Cannon Falls firefighters after they were located inside a burning apartment unit.

Their mother was also injured while attempting to get them out of the residence. Cannon Falls Police reported she suffered a cut on her arm and was taken to the Cannon Falls Hospital for treatment

A Cannon Falls Police Officer was the first to arrive at the scene after the fire at the Cannon Valley Apartments was reported around 1:15 yesterday afternoon. He found a bedroom in the residence engulfed in flames and the mother outside indicating her children were still in the burning apartment.

An investigator from the State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting the Cannon Falls Fire Department in searching for the cause of the fire.
